AW Skincare Essentials | 2017

Hello lovelies,

I hope you’re all having a lovely week. I thought I’d do a little post dedicated to some autumn/winter skincare as, I don’t know about you, but this time of year is awful to my skin. I usually have normal/oily skin but ever since Summer stops and Autumn begins my skin becomes dryer and tighter and just yuck. So this post is just an overview of my staple products that I use this time of year in order to keep my skin nice and hydrated. Hopefully you can find some products that might work for you!

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Soft Cloth Cleanser and Muslin Cloth:

This cleanser is perfect for awakening your skin in the morning and cleaning it in the evening. You use about one squirt on dry skin and massage it in gently. Then using the muslin cloth and some hand-hot water, wipe away the residue of the cleanser from your skin. Follow this with splashing your face with cold water to close the pores back up. The exfoliating property is the perfect level of gentle on your skin, it isn’t grainy or rough in the slightest but still leaves skin feeling smooth, soft and cleansed. The muslin cloth that comes with it is a lovely soft material which is nice to wipe off the cleanser with. It’s a saviour for keeping your skin clean without drying it out. The starter kit including the cleanser (100ml) and the muslin cloth is £16, but like the other Liz Earle products I will mention there are plenty of size options or you could buy it as part of a bundle!

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic:

This toner feels lovely after cleansing. It’s a really fresh and cool sensation and smells incredible. You pop a generous amount onto a cotton pad and wipe gently all over your face. Not only does this help tone your skin it also smells lovely and really refreshes it. Again this doesn’t dry my skin out and my skin feels so soft after using it, I can’t live without it. It retails individually for £15 (200ml).

Liz Earle Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask:

This does exactly what it says: nourishes. It leaves skin feeling tingly yet so hydrated. You apply this to dry skin and let it soak into your skin for about 15 minutes before wiping the left over residue with the muslin cloth. I use this once a week instead of every day as it is more intensely hydrating but I always feel very pampered after using it. My skin drinks this up like water. It retails individually for £16.50 (50ml).

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser (Normal/Combination):

This moisturiser is not for the faint hearted. It is quite a thick moisturiser which I love in the winter as I try to hydrate my skin more than normal. What I love about this is that it comes in two variations depending on your skin type so you can really tailor it for your individual needs. It smells lovely like the other Liz Earle products and really leaves your skin feeling hydrated. I tend to only need a pea sized amount to put on my face of a night time before I go to bed and massage it in. This way my skin is still nice and hydrated in the morning and feels like it has been hydrating itself whilst I sleep. I wouldn’t say it is too heavy for a day moisturiser, but if you’re more on the oily side you might want to pick something less heavy for day to day use. It retails individually for £19.50 (50ml).

Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser:

I love this moisturiser for day-to-day use. It sits well under makeup, it is lightweight yet still hydrating, and it smells amazing. I’m a sucker for citrus/fruity smells and this had me completely after the first sniff. The consistency is a little silicone-esque but I personally don’t mind that as it still leaves my skin feeling hydrated and soft. It has a slight demi-matte effect which, since I’m slightly oily, I don’t mind at all. And even with this effect it doesn’t leave the skin feeling dry whatsoever. I can’t rave about this enough, I am nearly finished with my 3rd tub. It retails for £25.00 (50ml).

Origins Energy-Boosting Lotion Treatment Mist:

I love this little bottle of zesty goodness. I spritz this all over my face every morning without fail, either as an addition to the GinZing moisturiser but mainly on it’s own. As a uni student I am always running out of the door last minute and being able to spritz this on my face quickly is a God send. Not only that but it’s also perfect for on-the-go hydration top ups (if you’re not wearing makeup). I love that this is a mist as it leaves me so refreshed, similar to the feeling of splashing your face with water but it actually being moisturising for your skin. The nozzle itself lets out a good amount of product and most importantly it comes out in a nice mist rather than random squirts of product. Can’t live without this. It retails individually for £18 (150ml).

Palmers Coconut Oil Body Lotion:

This is hands down the best body moisturiser I have ever used. Now, I do try my best to moisturise every day…but lets be honest, we can all be a little lazy sometimes when it comes to that and actually more realistically I do it once a week. But when I do, wow does my skin thank me for it. I get really tight dry skin on my lower back and legs and this moisturiser sorts it all out. Not to mention that it also smells like coconuts as it contains coconut oil which has limitless skin benefits in itself. Love, love, LOVE this. It’s currently on offer in Superdrug for £2.79 (250ml).
